Submarine Tragedy

In April 2021, off the coast of Bali, the Indonesian Navy submarine KRI Nanggala met its tragic fate. The painting captures the vessel’s final resting place at the ocean’s depths, fragmented into three distinct pieces. The deep blues and murky greens of the sea envelop the scene, creating a sombre and haunting atmosphere. The submarine’s hull is torn asunder, with visible cracks in its core structure, while a diver and an underwater recovery vehicle hover nearby, symbolizing the human effort to understand and recover from this maritime disaster.
