Sophia Easel

Discovering her love for watercolours at the age of 12, Sophia Easel’s, passion lies in creating realistic watercolour paintings, capturing the essence of portraits and the delicate beauty of flora and fauna.
As a young artist, Sophia’s afternoons were spent mixing paints, experimenting with colours, and bringing landscapes to life on her canvas. She fondly recalls painting scenes from TV programs and adorning flower pots with intricate floral motifs. But it was the bonsai banyan tree—a miniature version of its larger counterpart, that left an indelible mark on her imagination Its dangling roots fascinated her , which dangled from its branches before eventually attaching to the ground as they grew longer.
An introvert by nature, she turned to art as a means of expression. She delved into reading, writing, and painting, allowing her imagination to conjure fictional characters and snippets of untold stories. Yet, writing full narratives eluded her; she struggled to connect the dots between those captivating scenes. Determined to express herself, Sophia turned to drawing figures and portraits. Instead of penning down her characters’ tales, she illustrated them, hoping that the brushstrokes would reveal their stories.
Unable to write complete narratives Sophia’s portfolio illustrated portraits of fictional characters, authors, and musicians—each piece a window into her creative mind. These portraits became her emotional compass, helping her maintain equilibrium and express her innermost feelings- a delicate balance between realism and imagination.
In recent years, Sophia has honed her skills, focusing on detailed close-ups of plants, flowers, and human faces. Her current collection explores the depths of her psyche, rendered in a dark and introspective style. Nature, literature, and portraiture converge in her compositions, inviting viewers to contemplate their own surroundings and emotions.
Sophia’s watercolours are more than mere pigment on paper. These watercolours transcend paper—they are glimpses into her soul; stories told through brushstrokes.
